USA Service Blog: All Because of You

The winds of change are sweeping across America because of you. President Obama issued a call to service two weeks ago and thousands of you already have responded with amazing alacrity.

You rapidly organized more than 13,000 service projects in all 50 states, helping repaint schools, mentor kids, collect canned food and donate blood. At Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C., thousands of you helped assemble more than 80,000 care packages for our troops.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we showed what was possible when Americans work together to strengthen our communities. Now that MLK Day is over, we need to keep that same spirit of volunteerism alive throughout the year. You can keep using our site to create or find events, as well as find other service opportunities through some great organizations.

It doesn’t matter how you choose to stay involved in your community, it just matters that you do.
